Internship

1At Orange Bay Company, we want to help create better living for everyone in Bermuda. That’s why we created the island’s most unique home furnishings, fashion and accessories shop, where you can purchase beautiful things at beautiful prices. That’s why we give back to our community through fundraising and donating part of our profits to local charities. And that’s why we introduced the Orange Bay Company Internship program. We think investing in young people is just about the best investment we can make, for our company, our community and our future.

If you’re a high school student who’s interested in a career in retail management, interior design, fashion design or buying… or if you’re just interested in finding out if your interested in those areas… consider applying to Orange Bay Company for part-time work as an intern.

Our interns work alongside our permanent employees at our showroom on Mill Creek Road in Pembroke, assisting with the intake and pricing of consigned furniture and fashions, sales, merchandising, and retail administration. There’s a possibility of getting involved with our home staging and home improvement services, too.

What you’ll learn:

  • In our home furnishings showroom, you’ll learn about how various styles, colours and vintages of furniture and accessories can be combined and arranged to help turn tired spaces into inspired ones.
  • In our clothing showroom, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about fashion brands and trends, mixing and matching to create unique styles, and the characteristics of quality apparel and accessories.
  • You’ll deal directly with customers and experience the satisfaction that comes with helping them find great deals on products that will help them look and live their best, and you’ll learn how to handle challenging customers and situations.
  • And (your parents will thank us for this) you’ll learn the value of a dollar. We’re proud to pay our interns competitive wages, but we’ll be keeping you busy and ensuring you earn… really earn… those paycheques.

Who you are:

  • Bermudian
  • Enrolled in high school; seeking to further your education thereafter
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, eager to learn, friendly, fashionable, humble and honest
  • Available to work Saturdays and, on occasion, after school on weekdays
  • Ready to roll your sleeves up and pitch in to help with just about anything

Work term:
Our busiest times of the year happen to correspond with the months that school’s in. So our interns work with us during the school year (September to end of June). We don’t currently offer summer employment to interns.
